Sea transportation is means of transportation in Batam. There are 400 island covered in Batam. In 2006 number of inter island unloaded cargoes was recorded 1.457.161 thousand tons and loaded was recorded at 960.916 thousand tons. Meanwhile the international loaded/unloaded cargoes in 2006 the unloaded was recorded 1.767.295 thousand tons and loaded was 958.998 thousand tons.
